Tapering Step Three -


By using the gap between the tape ends inside the two inch pipe as a guide, mark the pipe at the edge and then on the outside of the pipe. You should now have two little tick marks on the outside of the pipe that represents the distance between the tape ends on the inside of the pipe. Shown here, I took and drew a triangle to represent where I wanted to cut the pipe for the taper. I went quite a distance down the length of the pipe. I have since found it is only necessary to go 8 to 10 inches or so down the length. Much less cutting that way. The two tick marks you put on the outside of the pipe determines the length of the 'base' of this triangle. Just start drawing the two long sides of the triangle from these two tick marks and have them converge about 10 inches down the length of the pipe. You are now ready for Step 4.
