In 1976 he was again commissioned to write a piece of music by the Festival of Organ and Harpsichord. The result, Sanctus, for didjeridoo, pipe-organ, voices
and electronics, demonstrated many of his Californian influences. The electronic component is limited mainly to the close microphoning of voices and didjeridoo, so
a subtle dynamic balance can be maintained with the pipe organ. The piece, which is developed as an improvisation following the didjeridoo part, reverberated
through Saint Patrick's Cathedral when it was first performed, with a meditative and almost hypnotic effect upon the audience.
